Unusual vehicle, fake documents, and loaded weapons lead to court charges
A bizarre incident unfolded in Strathfield, Sydney’s inner west, when highway patrol officers arrested a 21-year-old man found driving a black sedan marked with “Chinese Police” insignia. The car, spotted during routine patrols, raised immediate red flags due to the suspicious markings on the bonnet and passenger doors.
Officers stopped the vehicle around 2:50pm on 18 July and quickly discovered more than just odd decals. Inside the boot, police allegedly found a box containing 48 live rounds of ammunition. The man also presented a fake document that claimed the vehicle was used to transport officials from the Chinese consulate.

Weapons and police impersonation uncovered in traffic stop
The sedan’s “Chinese Police” labels were just the beginning. Upon inspection, authorities also found items believed to be used for impersonating law enforcement. Despite holding a current firearms licence, the man allegedly said he believed “it was the best place to store his ammunition.”
Further investigation led police to his Baulkham Hills residence, where they seized two gel blaster firearms. His legally registered weapons were also confiscated pending a firearms licence review. He was later charged with multiple offences.
Among the charges were:
- Possession of unauthorised prohibited firearm
- Use/display of emergency services insignia
- Driving a vehicle with unlawful police markings
Police dubbed the man the “Temu Police”, referencing the low-budget appearance of his fake patrol car, which even had “POILCE” misspelled on the bonnet.

Court appearance follows dramatic arrest
The 21-year-old was granted conditional bail and is set to appear at Burwood Local Court on Tuesday, 22 July 2025. Authorities have confirmed the seized items and are continuing the investigation into how the vehicle and gear were assembled.
This arrest highlights growing concerns around impersonation of officials and improper storage of firearms. The combination of police decals, fake paperwork, and unsecured ammunition added to the gravity of the situation, triggering multiple charges.
