WA Labor will maintain links with the beleaguered CFMEU, despite weeks of reporting into allegations of criminal links with the construction union.
However, the Government will introduce legislative reforms to allow the WA Industrial Relations Commission to institute a fit and proper person test for right of entry to WA workplaces under the State system.
The move follows decisions by the Party’s national executive on the east coast last week to cut ties with the union following media reports alleging links to outlaw motorcycle gangs.
Premier Roger Cook made the announcement to media on Monday after returning from two weeks of leave.
Mr Cook said he supported the moves taken on the east coast to suspend the CFMEU following the allegations.
More to come.
