Anthony Albanese will shake up his cabinet after two veteran Labor ministers announced they would resign from politics at the next election.
Ending days of mounting speculation, the Prime Minister on Thursday confirmed Indigenous Australians Minister Linda Burney and Skills and Training Minister Brendan O’Connor will be stepping away from politics after a long career in the public eye.
Their resignation will allow the Prime Minister to redesign his cabinet, likely to include moving embattled Immigration Minister Andrew Giles elsewhere.
Details of that are expected to be announced over the weekend.
