Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says he is looking forward to working with Keir Starmer, who is predicted to win the UK election in a landslide victory.
Mr Albanese congratulated the UK Labour Party candidates on Friday as votes were being counted.
“Sir Keir Starmer I know well. I have met with him on a number of occasions, and we have also engaged on the phone,” Mr Albanese said.

The Prime Minister said the British Labour Party was a sister party to the ALP.
“They have very similar views to us on a range of issues,” he said.
“I’m sure we will work closely together on AUKUS, where we worked very closely with the former Government.
Mr Albanese wished outgoing UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak well and said they worked constructively.
He said he met three British prime ministers in his first six months of being the country’s leader.
