Former NSW energy minister Matt Kean will be the next head of the national Climate Change Authority, as the federal government prepares for an election fought on how to get the country to net zero.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said Mr Kean was the best person to head up the independent advisory body, who will help Australia “seize the opportunities” and ensure the country has the “cheapest and cleanest power”
“Their advice is vital for reaping the benefits of the energy transition for every household and every business and as well for delivering new well paid jobs.,” Mr Albanese said.
