A hotly-anticipated parliamentary inquiry report into the domestic gas market has been delayed until after the winter break.
The Economics and Industry Standing Committee’s review was scheduled to be released on Thursday morning but that was pushed back by nine weeks late on Wednesday afternoon.
Businesses and lobby groups which submitted to the inquiry have now been told the report will be released on 15th August.
“Due to the large volume and high quality of evidence received by the committee throughout the inquiry, committee members have decided to take additional time to digest this information,” a note from the committee’s secretariat said.
“This will ensure that the final report incorporates the widest possible views in a fair and equitable manner.”
The State Government is also undertaking its own work to assess potential gas policy changes, a process which is still ongoing.
The inquiry followed concerns big exporters were not pumping enough gas into the local market amid projections of an enormous shortfall within a decade.
The review also ran the rule over the State Government’s 2020 move to ban onshore gas exports and the numerous changes made to that policy since.
