Shadow WA Treasurer Neil Thomson has lashed the State Government for presiding over a “boom no one feels” — saying it is overspending on public transport and “band aid” solutions, while neglecting key areas like housing and health.
The pre-budget briefing — held Tuesday, two days before Treasurer Rita Saffioti hands down her first budget — saw the Liberal MLC accuse the Cook and McGowan Labor Governments of wasting repeated windfalls that had delivered an extra $43 billion to State coffers in five years — mostly thanks to an improved GST deal and higher than expected iron ore prices.
