The Met Gala 2024 red green carpet just got a little more…Wicked.
Ariana Grande arrived at the 2024 Met Gala on Monday, returning to the star-studded event for the first time since 2018.
The “We Can’t Be Friends” singer wore an ethereal gown with soft pastels and pink shades peeking through creamy white. The strapless Loewe gown featured a bodice made of actual mother of pearl, a draped drop waist, and a flowing, pleated skirt and train. She said that the gown is a nod to her character in the upcoming Wicked, meant to reflect the giant magical bubble that serves as her signature mode of transport.

Ahead of the release of the two-part film adaptation of the Broadway musical Wicked (which itself is based on the Gregory Maguire novel, also called Wicked, which is an adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz), in which Grande plays Glinda the Good Witch, Grande has treated the world as her press tour runway, repeatedly reaching for high-fashion pieces in different shades of pink, channeling her characters propensity for the rosy hue. For the Oscars 2024 in March, Grande wore a candy-pink custom Giambattista Valli Haute Couture ruched column gown, accented by a voluminous piece that seemed to span the distance between cape, overskirt, and train, all in one.
